Fieldwork at Masada, Israel

Sabino Conservation is actively involved in the ongoing investigation of Roman plaster at Masada. Practical research includes the reattachment of soft lime plaster to salt-contaminated stone backgrounds; design of compatible supports and fills to clay, gypsum and lime-based plasters, and the development of colouring and polishing techniques for imitation marble finishes.
